Amélie unveils her first fabric collection ‘Chêne’ during London Craft Week 2025, exclusively hand-dyed using a biodegradable natural black dye derived from oak galls.
The collection demonstrates that producing fabrics with naturally derived colours from sustainable sources is not only possible but also scalable, repeatable, and of the luxury quality demanded by today’s interior textile industry. It marks a significant step forward in sustainable design innovation in the UK.
Amélie collaborated with natural dye specialists AO Textiles, who hand-dyed the linen yarns, and the internationally renowned Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company, who wove the artisanal textiles on their historic jacquard looms in Suffolk, UK.
Creating a true black using natural dyes is notoriously challenging, but after extensive experimentation, the team succeeded in perfecting a biodegradable black using plant-based ingredients.
Woven in 70% linen and 30% silk, the fabric has a textured hand reminiscent of archival dobby linen canvas. Chêne features a distinctive monochromatic repeat pattern, inspired by geometric modernist compositions—striking and certain to become a focal point in any luxury interior.
The silk is GOTS-certified (Global Organic Textile Standard), and the linen is certified by Masters of Linen, European Flax, and Oeko-Tex. Its medium weight makes it suitable for curtains, upholstery, and accessories.
